TAKE ME TO
PATAGONIA
Boilermakers and Hoosiers are heading to the southern tip of South America—one of the most mysterious and secluded areas of the world. Don’t miss our joint excursion with the Indiana University Alumni Association as we discover the unspoiled wilderness of Argentina and Chile.
BIRDS OF A FEATHER
Cruise through the storied Strait of Magellan on the way to tiny Magdalena Island—home to more than 120,000 Magellanic penguins that peacefully coexist with cormorants, sea lions, and other species. The flightless birds are named for the Portuguese explorer who spotted them with his crew while circumnavigating the globe in 1520.
LOCAL LEGENDS
Visit with Chilean cowboys as you explore a working estancia (ranch), watch a sheepdog exercise to see how the animals perform their important job of herding, and learn how wool is processed during a sheep-shearing demonstration. Round out your tour with a delicious Patagonian asado (barbecue).
SUPER NATURAL
Comprising 700 square miles, the national park and UNESCO reserve of Torres del Paine features an unparalleled landscape of jagged peaks, virgin forests, ice-blue glaciers, and thunderous waterfalls. Enjoy two full days soaking in the scenic beauty of this region.
At the end of the world
Jaw-dropping vistas await you in the remote Los Glaciares National Park, located in the southernmost province of Argentina. Embark on a boat trip across Lago Argentino, the country’s largest lake; wander through the Andean Patagonian forest; and marvel at the 97-square-mile mass of ice that makes up Perito Moreno Glacier.
BOM DIA, BUENOS AIRES
Immerse yourself in the cosmopolitan capital of Argentina for nearly two days of exploration. The city boasts beautiful parks and gardens in the leafy Palermo neighborhood, and you’ll be inspired by the colorful bohemian district of La Boca and picturesque San Telmo, the oldest neighborhood in Buenos Aires.
EASTER ISLAND //
Pre-tour Option
Witness the remarkable moai—volcanic stone monoliths that have gripped the world’s imagination for centuries—during a four-day extension of your Patagonian small-group journey. You’ll indulge in extensive sightseeing, including visits to the Puna Pau, Rano Kau, and Rano Raraku craters; the Orongo “birdman” cult ruins; and Anakena Beach.
